To Be Completely Honest...

Everyone looks for different things in the blogs they read.
Personally, I tend to be drawn to blogs that have lots of pictures (mostly well taken pictures, but I enjoy the candid pictures) in a post.
Pictures catch your eye and draw you into a post.
It's like a first impression.

I'm such a hypocrite, because I know that I tend to just throw pictures into a post, all willie-nilly like, hoping that they will make sense with what's going on.

Content is really what makes me stick when it comes to a blog.
I want to read honest, real and candid opinions and experiences.

Blogging is a double edged sword.
I've felt it's sting. So, I know that being open and honest with your personal life and opinions can be really scary and may not be the best idea.

I'm drawn to a blog that talks about highs as well as, sometimes mostly censored, lows.
At least the blogger is being truthful about their life. There is nothing that turns me off more than a blogger who instead of posting real content, is content with giveaways, photo contests, fashion posts, DIY's and sponsored reviews instead of experiences.

I'm not saying any of those things are bad... I know that blogging is a community of people who are more than willing to help a blog friend out and interact with their readers.
But as a reader and consumer of blogs, it's a little annoying.
It's almost like blog spam.

I hope that you, as a reader, are finding your niche of blogs that you enjoy reading day after day.
I'd be over-the-moon excited if you decided that my blog was one of those you chose to read.

Feel free to share some blog love and comment with a must-read blog that you honestly enjoy.

I totally agree! It's scary to put yourself out there, but it's so rewarding when people can relate! I know I've read many honest and real blog posts that have helped me during times of trial in my life! And I feel forever grateful for those bloggers who open up! Such a good reminder of why the blog world is so great :)
(But I also admit... I don't mind a good giveaway or two. Even though I NEVER win, ha ha!)

Sometimes that's just it though.. it's hard to find that niche. I started blogging because I wanted an excuse to write. I know my blog tends to be all over the place but I'm finding it's a perfect way for me to document my weekly activities. It's almost like a journal.

Then I discovered followers. Readers. Friends. The blogging world is such an amazing community. It's easy to get caught up in wanting followers just for the reason that you want more friends.

But I agree that the giveaways can be a bit much!

Content-for me, is the biggest thing. I like pretty pictures, but even more, i like interesting words. So that's how I pattern my own blog--I make it the kind of blog I would want to read. And I'm with you on the reviews and giveaways and boring filler content--it really doesn't make me want to read a blog!

I totally agree. Those blogs are the ones I actually read not just skim the beginning in my blogger dashboard. P.s. I'd love to guest post if you're still looking.
