Hair Food

I saw an article on Yahoo about things that help make your hair pretty.... It was a little more in depth than that BUT I've decided to post it on here....

1. to help out others who find their hair lacking in the pretty department.
2. so I will always be able to find it. anytime.anywhere.

Iron:
Iron helps bolster hair growth. Find it in meat, shellfish, fortified grains and leafy greens.

Protein:
Protein is the building block of every strand, but it can be high in fat. To keep your saturated fat intake low, opt for lean cuts of meat, mix light meat with dark, or choose seafood.
Biotin, B6 and B12 Biotin, B6 and B12 promote new growth within the follicles. Good sources include whole-grain breads, oatmeal, skim milk, low fat cheese, eggs, salmon, nuts and nut butters.

Zinc:
Zinc strengthens natural oils that coat the hair shaft, creating shine. Feast on meat, nuts, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds and yogurt.

Vitamin C:
Vitamin C helps promote cell renewal in the scalp. Get your fill in the form of brightly colored fruits and veggies. Strawberries and kiwis are surprising super sources, as are raspberries, mangoes, oranges and red bell peppers.

Vitamin A:
Vitamin A is also a hair helper; look for it in apples, apricots and sweet potatoes.

Antioxidants:
Antioxidants found in herbs, dark chocolate and fresh berries promote a healthy scalp by sparking cell turnover.

Want easy ways to weave these superfoods into your diet? Follow this sample menu by Lona Sandon, R.D., a spokeswoman in Dallas for the American Dietetic Association.

What Do Losers From the Loser Bracket Do?

For those of you who don't know that I am in college.... Well, I am.

And to those of you who don't know that my major is Sports and Leisure..... Well, there you go.
So in this major you are required.... (got that? Required) to take activity classes such as yoga, tennis, flag football, fencing, volleyball, weight lifting.... you get my point.

Well for this quarter I chose to take racket ball...
And I'm bad....

like, Daria bad.

Like oh this isn't tennis? bad... (and I got asked to sit out of tennis in HS because I was the odd number in the class... and evidently my teacher didn't want to teach cut throat or doubles.... or I was really just that bad)

So this week my prof./GA Tony (I like to think of him as Tony the Tiger... but I'd never say that to his face) decided to create a tournament for the class... I was hoping to be left off the list because, let's just face it, I'm not a active sports kind of girl. Give me yoga or even strength training any day.

But NO, he made me play... and once again I found myself the odd person out, playing winner in the second round. coincidence? I think not. God's trying to tell me something, and I think it's 'honey, your just not very good at this kind of thing... Not when there are other people who really like to try out there.'.... in a loving and 'your so adorable trying not so hard' kind of way.

So being odd person out I was standing next to court 8... watching my class friend Lindsey actually try to play... which was different from when we were scrimmaging... or tourney-ing, or whatever the hell you want to call it...

Then I saw him, out of the corner of my eye...

looking at me...

deciding to walk over...

"So Erin, you ready to warm up?"

Are you crazy Tony the Tiger Man? "What? Oh no, I'm cool just waiting until they're done"

He saw right through me.... "Nah, you need to warm up. Come on we'll play."

Oh dear Lord. Great. Nerves? check. Gulp? Check. Auto switch for extremaly talkative and stupidly making fun of myself in my inability mode? On.

"Oh well I am warm. I walked all the way across campus. I'm practically sweating." Insert awkward laugh.....
...........

............ Nothing. Damn. No don't start walking toward the court.....

My body wanted to rebel... Serious. I felt the normal polite lock come off my lips.... I knew I was going to look like an idiot. I knew the other girls who I've played just let me slack off because I make really bad jokes about how bad I play....I felt the awkward silences that were to come.....

"want to serve first?" well at least I can serve pretty OK.

And the game commenced... for 12 grueling minutes it was a lot of him giving me pointers.... after every shot.... and me whiffing. (not to be confused with something else that rhymes... you sicko's) I only hit the ball on his serves maybe 4 times.... Of which I got 1 point.... total... until my court was finally done with their 15 points. Finally.

Then it was my turn to play... and the guy I played against let me win... then I noticed that he was taking fault's and just piling them up when I was supposed to be serving....

yeah that's right... I know what a fault is....

So I lost that game, 6-15. not too shabby....

I got moved to the loser's bracket.... But I got to play Lindsey! Yes. No real game playing for me.

I got in there and we started to hit the ball around.... and she started to keep score?! Ugh. is there no hope for the world?

So I lost to her... She gave me some points here and there for things like hitting me with the ball.... which is called a.... I forget now. (But I knew it then.) We also talked about the Olympic figure skating that went on last night.... We we're really into the game.

But I still lost... So I went to check out the bracket sheet... and I turned to Tony the Tiger and stupidly asked 'So what are the losers of the losers going to do?'

"Well I'm going to make a new tournament for all that on Monday."

"Awesome" I said taking another look at the brackets trying to see when my other friend Lauren would be done..

"You know, a little more excitement wouldn't hurt"

Wide eyed I turned and answered innocently 'I said awesome?!'

'OK well maybe a little less sarcasm would help'.... I stared up at him blankly... I didn't think I said it as a sarcastic remark..... Now, I don't necessarily want to be counted in a loser of loser's bracket... But I was impressed that he had a plan.... Awesome is just a word I use often.....

'Oh. that wasn't really sarcastic.' he just gave me a smug smile, turned and walked away... Just like that...

And that, My loves, is why people who love participating in sport... in any shape or form... do not understand those who don't....

It is also why I choose to not hang around those people. give me musicians, actors and the such any day.

I also don't think my impression of Amber from Clueless while I was playing against Lindsey helped any... you know...

Amber: Ms. Stoeger, my plastic surgeon doesn't want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.
Dionne: Well, there goes your social life.

yeah, not smart.....

Instead

So instead of doing a wedding post like I promised... I'll give you something equally exciting.... Well in my life at least.

No this isn't because I'm lazy.... Well a little bit.

But I left my CD of pictures at my parents for my mom to look at..... And I haven't picked it up yet....

OK OK so it's because I'm lazy! Sheesh. :)

But instead I'll give you a Glee update.

So those of you who don't know, Glee is holding open casting calls to amateurs and professionals around the country. I'm going to be one of those amateurs..... OK that totally doesn't sound good.

Anyway. Starting next week I'm going to be posting videos of me singing different songs that I might use in my audition tape... In these videos I'll be using the track my voice teacher made for me...So don't worry there wont be any karaoke issues...

However I'll need your help and the help of other bloggers to decide what songs to sing...

There isn't really any information about how people who are auditioning are supposed to be doing this... But It's OK. I'll just be adaptable. I don't really know anything about YouTube... but I'm going to try to get these videos up on there so that other random people can vote too.... I just want to make sure that I'm sending the best that I am to Glee, even though I know Hollywood eats amateurs and spits them right back out....

So yep. Let the word out. If you know anyone interested in the show and who would like to help little ol' me, tell them about my blog.

Any suggestions about which day I should make this chapter of my life a fixture on? I'm thinking Tuesdays since that's my music day already with voice lessons and all that jazz....

K loves, get ready.

OK, so thank you Big Sis for letting me know how stupid I am. Bahahaha

Dear Readers, I Have a Problem....

This problem has to do with my hublove, Jake.

Jake

Is

A

PICKY

Eater.....

And when I say picky I mean meat and potatoes. Pizza and bacon cheeseburger with lettuce and BBQ sauce only. McChicken with lettuce only. Ribs and french fries. Steak and potatoes. Salad with Italian dressing (I think). *GULP* Home made chicken noodle soup. Spaghetti with meat sauce.... and the kicker..... general tso's.

what in the world am I going to do once we decide to have kids? Me who will eat almost anything.... Including brussel sprouts.... cooking for the hubs.... and kids who will look up to him... watch his eating habits and realize that if dad gets to make pizza rolls they don't want the grilled cheese sandwich that's sitting in front of them.

I'm in desperate need of new ideas for recipes to use on him. Gimme the classics (sans the lasagna type... Ugh that makes my heart hurt) Gimme the goods my chickas! I need to practice on him now and get this all out of the way before he makes me eat another of his General Tso's home made recipe.....

Thank you and ciao

Life Delayed Until Friday

Due to papers not being done I have slacked off..... I know. But you still love me right? (1 down, 1 to go!)
Snow day on Tuesday. I wish there had been one again today. I'm pretty much ready to be done with school. 40 credit hours is a lot.... But I'll do it. I'll get my dang degree and find a new job.... Someplace where I wont have quotas or deadlines... Where I can just do things how they'll work best for me........ Looks like that's gonna be a tuffy.

I just got my wedding pictures in the mail yesterday!!!! I'm so freaking excited. For those of you who have done wedding Wednesday how should I split things up? details, dress, flowers, bridesmaids, groomsmen, dancing.... I need to think of more so that there isn't an ungodly amount of pictures every post like how I did for the honeymoon stuff... (hehehe... call me lazy and I'll just smile and give you a hug. lol)

Thankful Thursday is being skipped too because I still have a 4-6 page paper to finish by tomorrow at noon... With a meal to make and a bible study to finish (5 nights of homework for it) and attend tonight....

Don't you just adore procrastination....

Last night when I had a fake business plan to finish I chose to do 3 loads of laundry and clean my bedroom...( Jake was freaked out by the bed being made.) as well as move some things around in the office so that I could 'work more efficiently'.... Then I played a game for 30 mins until 8:30).... then I started kicking some business plan ass..... 7 pages later I went to bed (around 12:30)..... and finished more this morning.... It's a skill..... and it's not as impressive as I like to think.... well I guess we'll see what my grade is.

Today I have to finish 3 more pages about Johnny Weir and his fox fur fiasco. I love him though. He's so damn talented!!!
